01 JUNE TO 10 JUNE 2012
"Light on the River"
1200th Anniversary of the Minster of St Boniface, Hameln
During the successful Easter time 2010 visit by friends from the Evangelical Lutheran Münster St Bonifatius of Hameln an invitation was given for a group representing the churches of Paignton to visit Hameln during the Spring Bank Holiday week 2012 (01 June to 10 June). The invitation was accepted and a party representing the Churches of Paignton and their friends will be making plans to visit Hameln to be welcomed as guests in the homes of members of the Evangelical Lutheran Münster St Bonifatius of Hameln congregation and other church congregations in and around Hameln.
From the beginning it has been the purpose of such visits to encourage church families and individuals and friends of our two communities to have fellowship together and to form a lasting bond of friendship between us - many of us had previously experienced the warmth of German hospitality. A programme of events will be organised in consultation with our German friends and we hope to share with them outings to places of interest as well as enjoying social events together. We will also have the opportunity to watch the 'Pied Piper' play performed in the town by local townsfolk on the Sunday morning after worship.
