Palace Avenue Fundraising Committee To help raise church funds, a Fundraising Committee has been formed and on various Saturdays, we will be having Coffee Mornings in the foyer. If anyone would like to volunteer to help on a stall or has anything in good condition to contribute to be sold please let us know. -ooOOoo- Hameln Visit - Holy Week - 28 March to 03 April With about fifty friends from Hameln arriving for Holy Week, we need your help. If you have a spare room and wish to show some good British hospitality as well as enjoying a good week of fun, food and friendship, please contact us for further information. -ooOOoo-
Palace Avenue Foyer Coffee Mornings We would be glad to hear from any members of our congregation who would like to help with Coffee Mornings on the above days as we are short of helpers. It’s a chance to meet other people and have a chat. Anyone interested please contact us. -ooOOoo- Flower Rota The 2010 Rota is in the church foyer. If you would like to donate money for flowers, please put your name on the list. We have a shortage of arrangers so if anyone would like to help could they please contact us. We would also be grateful for regular help with tidying up and moving pedestals on either Friday evenings or Saturday mornings. -ooOOoo- SHOWTIME - 9th OCTOBER 2010 I always knew Methodists had talent and now it has been proved. I have been very pleased with the support and offers of 'acts' for our grand show in October. The line-up promises to be very diverse - there will be something for everyone! As I write this I know that the Southfield ladies are limbering up, Ernie is improving his milk delivery record, Louis Armstrong is rehearsing and many more delightful acts are ensuring that 'all will be all right on the night'. I am really looking forward to this event - the fund raising is secondary the fellowship is more important. Now that we have the date please 'make it a date in your diary'. Charlene -ooOOoo- Progress Report from latest Torbay Street Pastors’ Newsletter Devon and Cornwall Street Pastors are already 10% of the national Street Pastor population - all within 18 months! God’s hallmark is certainly all over this initiative and it is bringing so much joy to those who are involved. Many Street Pastors’ testimonies are about how their spiritual lives have come alive since they have been out in teams on the street helping those who, at the time, cannot help themselves or those who are lost or who just need someone to talk to. Torbay Street Pastors’ Presentation Coordinator has gained access to most of the secondary schools in Torbay to share with the children who the Street Pastors are, why they are out on the streets, how to contact them and to give advice on how to stay safe. They hope that as a result the young people will think about their safety before they venture out. The Pastors would also like to gain access to colleges just to say who they are, what they do and more importantly what they are NOT, i.e. Bible bashers, the Police, etc. They have been, and are being, invited to various Police planning meetings and Police Licensing meetings to share their findings and give their opinions. They have also attended a Torbay Council meeting on underage drinking and, as a consequence, have several Councillors coming out with them to see what they do. -ooOOoo- 2B1 (www.2B1worship.org.uk) 2B1 is a group of talented musicians and singers who come to Palace Avenue once a month on every third Thursday. They lead us in a time of informal worship with songs and prayer. This is a multi-faith evening from 19.30 until about 21.00. There is an interval for tea, coffee and cake. Come and join us and meet like-minded people from other churches. -ooOOoo-
-ooOOoo- 09.00 on the first Saturday of the month (except July and August) at Palace Avenue. All men and boys are welcome to come along, share breakfast with us and listen to an interesting speaker. Please add your name to the list in the church foyer or contact us if you would like to join us. -ooOOoo-
