PPAMC-QR Code More and more this symbol will be seen on advertising material and also in newspapers and magazines.  It will even be appearing on products in supermarkets, corner stores and other retail outlets.  Because of the amount of information the symbol can contain it is likely the symbol will replace the existing outdated barcode system.

Easter

Easter Day falls on the Sunday following the first full moon after the Vernal Equinox (beginning of spring).

The Vernal Equinox this year was on the 20 March and the first full moon thereafter is on Good Friday, 06 April.

Hall Redecoration - 11 August to 01 September

We are asking for volunteers to help with the decoration of the hall. There is a lot of preparation needed before any paint can be applied, and this is where you can help. It isn’t really hard or skilled, just time consuming. So the more volunteers we get, the less we have to pay for professional help. We will also need some volunteers for the kitchen too!! Please contact Les K.

Circuit Missions Event - Olympic Fair

On Saturday, 30 June, at Goodrington Methodist Church from 12.00 to 16.00.

Palace Avenue and Southfield have a blue stall to run so please start collecting blue items to sell on the day.

Burgers and hotdogs will be served at  lunchtime and cream teas in the afternoon.

All proceeds from the event will go to Action for Children. For more details, please contact either Kath L or Margaret S.

Easter Flowers

If anyone would like to help me on Easter Saturday morning to decorate the church and/or on Easter Sunday morning to make up the ‘living cross’, I would appreciate it.  Freda N

 Flower Rota

The Flower Rota is posted on the notice board in the foyer.  I would be grateful to anyone who is able to fill in one of the dates when they can donate flowers.  I would also appreciate any help to arrange flowers. Freda N

Pets Service

Due to popular request, Palace Avenue will be holding a Pet Service on the 20 May at the 10.30 service. This service was very popular last year so hopefully we will have even more visitors with their furry or feathered friends. This is a great opportunity for the community to be invited to church so if you know of someone who would like to attend with their pet, please invite them.  Our very own Ian D will be sharing some interesting information about the voluntary work he does for the Cats Protection League.

Advance Notice

The Return of the Caerphilly Ladies Choir

Yes indeed, the good news is that they are returning for another concert – the bad news is that we will have to wait till Saturday 5 May to hear their beautiful singing once again.  When the ladies visited us last in 2010 – they received unanimous acclaim and support. They are an extremely accomplished choir and we at Palace Avenue were fortunate to be able to snap up one of their available dates.

Their programme contains a wide range so there is something for everyone to enjoy. Thrown in with the singing there is usually some very clever comedy repartee which we certainly enjoyed.

Tickets will be on sale nearer the time but do put this in your diary in the meantime.

Men’s Breakfast

09.00 on the first Saturday of the month (except July and August) at Palace Avenue.  All men and boys are welcome to come along, share breakfast with us and listen to an interesting speaker.  Please add your name to the list in the church foyer or contact us if you would like to join us.
